Claude Fauchere was born in Paris in 1936.  He studied at the College des Arts Appliques and at the Ecole Superieure Nationale des Metiers d’Art.  H is a member of the Jury of the French Artists Society and of the Salon d’Automne.

The main characteristic of Claude Fauchere’s paintings is the mass of elements in the foreground which seem to be suspended in air as though caught on their way to the ground.  This style of composition is by no means accidental.  It is carefully constructed and in fact it is the key to the whole picture.  It catches the eye of the viewer and leads it inside the composition, guiding it through plane after plane up to the abstract heart.  The objects suspended in air create empty spaces and these add a greater depth while the peripheral surfaces, being more geometric and less vividly colored, achieve a uniformity which frames the painting, emphasizes it, and at the same time builds a support which enables the elements to bind together by association or contrast of colors.

The paintings of Claude Fauchere abound with contrasts – bold, vivid colors contrast with soft and tender hues.  Empty spaces contrast with minutely detailed spaces.  Dynamic brush strokes contrast with precise and delicate touches.  These contrasts create a rhythm which animates the painting, transforming landscapes and street scenes in sequences of harmonious spaces where color is pure light.

Claude Fauchere’s talent is in his power to convince us that beyond the passage of time and its load of pain, there exists another reality which is always present in our hearts.  Fauchere’s magic lies in his ability to reveal this reality of beauty and gaiety in his paintings.
