Despite a lifetime of moving around the U.S. as part of a military family, Nancy Tankersley has always regarded the coastal areas of Maryland and Virginia as home. She maintains a studio (at the Columbia Pike Artists Studios) and home in Arlington, Virginia but spends much of her leisure time in Solomons, Maryland. Her love of the Chesapeake Bay area is evident in many of her paintings. A portrait painter for many years, in recent years Nancy has been combining her love of the figure with that of the landscape, resulting in a series of beach paintings that has gained recognition and acceptance in galleries coast to coast.

In the past five years, she has had five solo shows in four commercial galleries and at the Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Georgetown University Medical Center in the District of Columbia.  She is a member of the prestigious Washington Society of Landscape Painters and the Oil Painters of America.  She likes to paint both in and out of her studio and feels that it is important to paint from life as much as possible.  carmen's is proud to offer a wide variety of her work.
