Tettimer

Though later to bloom than my sun-drenched sister, yet no less prolific am I.”  This personal statement came to be my “mantra” twelve years ago.  An analogy I wrote connecting my then passion for gardening with my desire to be a productive artist.  The images I’ve produced since then, though fantasy in genre, are symbolic of the intuition that all women possess and their journey through time; symbolism that intertwines cultures of the past as well as the present.  Given to an audience to interpret as they may, my only wish is that my work brings the viewer pleasure.

Lisa Tettimer was born in Arkansas, but raised in Calvert County since the age of five.  Encouraged to pursue her innate talent in the visual arts by her family and high school art teacher, Lisa completed the fine arts curriculum at York Academy of Arts in York, Pennsylvania in 1980.  She returned to Calvert County with her high school sweetheart, Jimmy to start a family. Her sons Joshua and Matthew have been an inspiration to her art since they were born in the mid 1980’s.  Lisa has been employed by the public school system for the last twenty-five years.  A job that afforded her the luxury of spending summers off with her children while they were in school.  Her sister, June, once accused her of being one of those women who put her art aside until her family was raised.  Now that her sons are grown, Lisa is working toward fulfilling her sister’s prophecy.
